the vast majority of adsl connection problems can be solved by resetting the telephone line.

this is done by:
- switch OFF your router (or adsl modem)
- wait a minimum of 35 minutes (40 minutes is ideal) << this will force BT to reset your line
- switch ON router
- wait 2 minutes
- test your connection by performing a Google search
